Frequently Asked Questions
Weddings
What is your style of photography?
My Style of photography suits couples who are after a natural and laid back approach. I like to hang back and capture the true emotions, documenting your special day as it happens and not forgetting all the unique details and different individuals who are attending your wedding.
Do you offer engagement sessions/couple portrait sessions?
Yes. I love engagement sessions! Not only are they a great way for me to get to know my clients better, they are also a great practice run and I find that the images created are often used for wedding invitations or on the actual wedding day.
Is it an issue if you have never shot at our wedding venue before? Also, do you have liability insurance if the venue requires this?
No, that is not an issue at all. Depending on how big the space is, I will arrive 30-45mins early to scout the area for spots to shoot. I'm open to doing a venue walk through a few months before, as well.
Yes, I do have liability insurance and I can provide A COI for your venue at any time.
Will you help me with my wedding timeline?
I will definitely consult with you about how to best lay out the wedding day so that I have plenty of time for pictures and all the other good stuff. Making sure I know when the optimal times for portraits are and making sure you have adequate time to soak up the day are my top priorities! My number one suggestion for couples is to hire a wedding planner. Even if it’s just a coordinator for the day of the wedding…it will be an investment well made and you’ll be able to relax knowing that everything is taken care of!
Do you deliver every image you shoot?
No, I do not. I eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. For example, because I shoot with low apertures, sometimes I take a few extra shots to make sure I have the perfect focus. I don’t expect you to have the expertise or the time to zoom into each image to select the one with the sharpest focus, so I spend hours doing that on our end. In another example, candid laughs and emotional tears are some of the best images from the day. Unfortunately, they can also yield some unflattering facial expressions. I might snap a few extras of any of these moments to make sure I have a great shot with the ideal expression for the moment. With our expertise of processing millions of images each year, I may eliminate ones that I feel are duplicates and only deliver the best one.
How many photos will I recieve from our wedding?
I don’t like to state an exact amount in our package inclusions, as each wedding is unique and there are so many different factors that affect the final number (size of a wedding party, how many guests you have, number of desired family photos, length of time I have for location photos, to name a few!).
However, I generally find that I end up with approximately 300 photos for a full wedding day.
Do you edit the photos?
Yes all images are colour corrected with a mixture converted to B&W
When will I receive my photographs?
A small preview gallery is delivered within a week of the wedding and the full online gallery is delivered within 3-5 weeks
Do you offer albums and prints?
Nothing makes us happier than seeing your day in print! I offer a variety of fine art photo albums and prints, a beautiful way to display and preserve your wedding memories for a lifetime to come. All prints and albums are available via our online store.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I’m really flexible with breaking up payments in whatever makes sense the most for you. I offer bimonthly payment plans, as well as a lower up-front retainer fee for larger bookings.
Portraits
How far in advance should I book my portrait shoot?
I can put together a shoot in a hurry if I need to, but I always prefere/recommend booking at least six weeks in advance if possible. This gives us plenty of time to make sure you have all the wardrobe pieces you need, for you to schedule any beauty appointments you may want as prep, and for me design special little extras for your shoot. But if you're on a tight schedule, still inquire! I most likely can figure it out.
How much time should I expect the session to take?
I'm not running the clock! As a loose guideline, sessions typically last between 1 - 2 hours. I love to photograph the beauty, the silly and the goofy moments and will take the time to capture all of it!
What happens if I get rained out?
In the event of bad weather, or if you have an emergency and need to reschedule, please call us ASAP! I will e-mail you our cell phone number before the shoot, feel free to e-mail us back with a number where I can reach you that day too in case anything comes up on our end. I will check the extended forecast about a week before your shoot and e-mail you to confirm and then we’ll check the radar again 24-48 hours out and re-confirm via e-mail. The weather is sometimes unpredictable though and if it looks like it might rain the morning of your shoot, I will most likely reschedule. I don’t want you walking through mud or laying in it for photos if I can avoid it.
How does payment work?
Shortly after our meeting, I'll send a contract and invoice which you can use to pay electronically. Signing the contract and a non-refundable down payment of 50% is due to officially book your date. The remaining 50% is due at least a week before the wedding.
What time of day do you prefere to shoot?
My favorite time is GOLDEN HOUR! You get that gorgeous golden light that makes your photos so intimate and visually stunning - it's also my favorite to edit! In the winter, this ranges from 3-5pm, and in the summer it ranges from 6-8pm.
How many images do you deliver on the image download?
I deliver 20-30 fully retouched and edited images.
What if I think I need to lose 10 lbs before booking my shoot?
This is one of the most common things I hear and it’s proven to be the same over and over again - You are perfect for this experience, right now, as you are. I will make sure you look amazing.
I don’t think I’m photogenic so why would I do this?
The idea of being photogenic is a myth. I go beyond this idea to something called “soulgenic”. I capture your soul - the very essence of who you are. Every single person on the planet is soulgenic and I are on a mission to prove it, one human at a time.
Some of the most beautiful photographs you see on this site were taken of people who were convinced they were’t photogenic. It’s our job to really see you and to capture the true you. I are pretty sure you’ll fall in love with the person you see looking back in your photographs.
How do we book you?
Easy! Send me an email, I'll check my availability and we can then take it from there.
